Lab Work
Data-Driven Recommendations
Lab Work & Interpretation
Lab testing should be thoughtful and individualized, especially when working with children.
I use lab work to better understand what may be impacting your child’s:
-
growth
-
feeding progress
-
digestion
-
and overall physiology
Data is important, but choosing the right tests is what makes that data useful.
Based on your child’s history, symptoms, and feeding challenges, I make targeted recommendations for testing when appropriate. This may include reviewing labs you already have, as well as identifying when additional testing could provide meaningful insight.
What to Expect
During your appointment, we review:
-
your child’s medical and feeding history
-
current symptoms
-
growth patterns
-
and any existing lab work
From there, we determine whether additional testing would be helpful and, if so, which tests make the most sense.
If you already have labs, we can focus on:
-
interpreting results
-
identifying patterns
-
and outlining next steps
Types of Testing I Commonly Use
Not every child needs testing, and not every child needs the same tests. These are used selectively based on your child’s needs.
Basic Blood Work (Quest or Labcorp)
Looks at:
-
nutrient status (iron, zinc, etc.)
-
thyroid function
-
inflammation
-
metabolic markers
Often the first step when looking at growth and overall health
Comprehensive Stool Testing (Gut Health)
Evaluates:
-
digestion and absorption
-
microbiome balance
-
gut inflammation
Helpful for kids with feeding issues, poor weight gain, or GI symptoms
SIBO Breath Testing
Checks for bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine
Can impact bloating, discomfort, and feeding tolerance
Food Sensitivity Testing (MRT)
Identifies foods that may be triggering inflammation
Can be helpful when gut symptoms or feeding issues persist
Organic Acids Test (OAT)
Looks deeper at:
-
nutrient status
-
mitochondrial (energy) function
-
neurotransmitters
-
gut-related markers
Helpful in more complex cases or when progress is stalled
Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA)
Evaluates:
-
mineral balance
-
metabolic patterns
-
stress response
Genetic Testing (3x4 Genetics)
Provides insight into:
-
nutrient needs
-
detox pathways
-
metabolic tendencies
Mycotoxin Testing
Evaluates exposure to mold toxins
Can impact gut, immune system, and nervous system
Neural Zoomer Plus
Used selectively to assess neurological and immune-related patterns
Bioresonance Assessments
Used in select cases to gather additional functional insight
How to Get Started
Lab testing is always based on your child’s individual needs.
If testing is recommended, we’ll walk through:
-
what to run
-
why it matters
-
and how results will guide next steps
If you already have labs, we can focus on:
-
reviewing results
-
identifying patterns
-
and creating a clear plan moving forward
